Trying to become a Thai princess or eating a frozen coconut (picture below). A few of the fun things to do in Thailand
MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its good to hear from you:) yesterday during scripture study i was studying about the love of christ and God. and i came to the conclustion that we cant comprhend the lov eof God bc it is too great for our minds. but the love of a mother comes very close:) thank you for you love for me. i know you do love me. i have been blessed to have a wonderful mother in my life. one that love the gosple and has taught it to me. Thank you. I have yet to give a talk in sacrament, bu t when we move to a new area hte 1st sunday they usually ask us to bear our testimony. so i have done that twice now. Yes you do need to get the package out, before thanksgiving, bc moves meeting is dec. 17th. They do have a christmas activity but its nothing like at home:( i mgoing to miss the lights the decorations the music the whole spirit of chirstmas that is back in the states. we went to a members house that is philipean and their house was already decorated with christmas. i felt at home, we have been singing chirstmas song and have a plan to go carroling to members and give them cookies or an ornament.
Most thai wear the same thing that americans wear. nothing too different. everyone has a jacket with them so when they go outside they put it on, bc uslike us americans who lik eto be dark they don't like it and they will wear a sweater in the middle of the summer. Which i have caught on too. i bought some sleves, just cut the sleves off a shrist and wear them. :) they are fun sis. lo and i have some. the sun is really hot!!!!! wvwryone says that its goign tot be cooling off but so far i don't believe them bc it hot like and Arizona hot.
I have decided to grow my hair out too:) it is to my the top of my shoulders. i put it in a side pony thai and have bought some long ribbon to act like a headband and then tie a bow with the end around the hair . i finally found how to be cute in this HOT HOT weather.:)
Well im on moves 6. sisters only have 11 moves during their time in the feild.
Everyone is ravinga bout New Moon, and i hear everyone love jacob, that he is better looking than Edward? what do you t hink. Weve have girl invite us to go see it with them when it comes out. But i guess it can wait another 8 months. Im glad the counsins are still haveing a girls night, tell them i send my love and i will be there next year:) and have fun. Do you know what the boys are doing? \
How did eric propose? May... june... july. 2 more months! just kidding. they can go on with out me:) I exspect pictures and LOTS of information. about what is going on. Im happy for them. Yeah another older sister, and the best things about it is i know her already:) and i love her.
I don't think e. clark i s here yet, then the elder who just got home is e. shill. we never served in the same district but he was in the Isan when i was there.
I ate somemore crickets the other day:) they arn't to bad they kinda taste like cornnuts, ooo send those too.
The only different is when eating cornnuts you don't get legs or anteni stuck in your teeth :) HAHA,
Thai is coming along, everyday it still amazes me that i am speaking another language, i dream in thai i think i thai. its crazy. and when i get home o might have an oppertunity to work some where were i con use thai. i lady came to church who has a non prophet organizaton to help thai hill tribs. it is located in AZ.
Man i love thailan and chaingmai but i think =this is my last moves here:( i hope i get one more but that is still up in the air

MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man i wish i could have some time just to lay in bed in the morning. Actually we did that this morning. we woke up and just started talking about our day. Today i got my roller coaster fix:) no it wasn't the flght of the gibbons the zip line. we took a saunt taw up to this wat at the top of this mountain. climbed the 300 steps to meet the elders at the top. the elders rode their bikes up there, it took them 2-3 hours to get there. ( it took us 30 min :) ) after resting. which we needed bc we ran up the 300 steps ok tryed to run up all the steps got 1/2 way and i felt like crawling which i did :) i do have a picture of that. it took us 2 min 13 sec to reach the elder. they timed us. Then with back on our bikes and then the decent down the mountain on the bike:)
SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a roller coaster with out the loops or spins. but it was just as fun. the wind in your face, the endranalin pumping. That i think is one of the best things i have done in thailand. Other than riding an elephant:) we wanted to pay the 150 baht agin to go to the wat or even farthur. So to hear eric and shelly are going to magic mountain, i would have been even more jealouse than i am now. bc i had a 20 min roller coaster ride of my own on my bike. :)
When i get home i actually want to start doing family history. So you can start it and ill continue it. Here they don't really have records like we do about birth and death, so doing family history is really hard here. we take it for grantint .
Im glad i was in Chaing Mai for conference. they had the head phoes they use on sunday to translate the sacrament meeting in to english for the farangs. they had the english conference hooked up to those so we got to listen to it in english. it was good. Love. that was a big topic. But that what the gosple is love for god and love for others.
Ok timne is up Ilove you have a great week.

KEITH!!!!!!! Since you wrote me. you get the weekly letter:) Make sure you share it with the family. Its good to hear from you and that life is treating you well. I hear you got 7 strikes in a row a few weeks ago. Thats awesome. What is 7 strikes called? How is school? What classes are you taking? Other than bowling :) Are you still in the mom and dads ward or did you transfer to the single or college ward? How is preparing to go on a mission? Im praying you will come here :) You would be great. I know you will be a great missionary where ever you go, but here... its hard to describe my feeling for Thailand. Its like home. And it is the best mission in the world. Eric and nick might dissagree :) but just between me and you it is. ANd you will find out for your self when you come here. Are you reading the scriptures everyday? The Book of Mormon is a whole new book to me. I love reading it and helping the thai people realize that it is the word of God. And that they have a God who created everything, even them. ANd that they are truly a child of God. I love to watch the investigaotrs really come to that realization. The light in their eyes is worth all the hardships that a mission brings. Go help the missionaries teach. THey will appritiate it. I hear dads ward got sister missionaries, how are they?
Today we are moving into our new house so we are cleaning and packing. The sisters have lives in this house for 2 years and they left A LOT of crap !!!! Im excited to move. Not so much as clean, 1. bc its not too fun and 2. it takes a day away from us exploring Chaing Mai. Next week we are goin to the highest point in thailand. Doi Intanon. I think that is how it is spelt in english :) I hear it is cold at the top. well see im excited :) that will be my last thiaw for this moves. WOW thime flies fast.
I hope you know i love you. We went to over to a farang families house for dinner a few weeks ago and their kids were bickering about eachother. I don't miss our bickering but i do miss being withthe family and wrestling with you and eric. well have to have a big match when i get home. ( FYI: I hit my 1/2 way mark tomorrow) WOW!
My favorite thing to teach is the Plan of Salvation. It holds the whole gosple of Jeses Christ in it. Yesterday we taught a girl about it. aBefore this girl was always shy and not really talkative. But during the lesson she asked so many questions, good questions. We covered ti whole plan, we usually take 2 lessons to teach the Plan of Salvation. Hey here is something for you to study: The plan of God has many names right? Plan of Salvation, Plan of happiness, plan of redepmtion and the plan of mercy. What is the meaning of the different names? WHy does it have 4 different names? I give you a clue to help read Alma 42. Let me know what you find.
The Branch in Chailng Mai is great. The next year they want to have 80 people baptised. It is possible only if the memebers help. We are trying to get them to be more missionary minded. It s been fun. I love the members heer. some times i forget i am in Thailand, just because life is just the same as at home. the people here are jsut darker. I even forget that i am white. As we ride dow the street i notice that everone is only staring at me not my comp? why? Both are riding a bike in a skirt. we both are farangs. Then i remeber sis. lo looks thai. even though she grew up in America. ( she is Mong).
Oh i found a mexican food place. It kinds looks like a Rubios. I got a bean Burriot. It had real cheese ( something thailand does not have. ) And real salsa. But the salsa had a thai taste to it. i was so happy :) for chirstmas i want a few cans of rosarita beans :) Mexican food isn't the same here is it is in America. ANd i miss it. Well Bro ive got to go. Thanks for the email. I love you. Tell everyone i say hi.
now that yo have the iphone who has your blackberry? I hope to hear from you more offten now. You dont have any excuses.
Stay safe.

DAD!!!!!!!!!!!! Good morning,
My new ocmpanion is sis. Lo. SHe is actually the oldest sister in the feild right now. im lucky, we a;so have bother served in Korat and with sis. Wanritdee. So we have also to talk about. She is from CA, but looking at her she looks thai but don't be confused she is really a Mong. She parents are from loas. and she speaks english and Mong. which is cool. We are having a blast up here. She is great and super excited to be up and Chaing Mai but who wouldn't be? She is a happy girl that loves the lord and loves what ishe is doing. She has 3 moves felt including this one. Then she is home. WOW!! then we all just follow her. Yikes its coming fast. Sis. wanritdee actually lives up in Chaing rai. and she sent us a package of cookies for us both and has called us to say hi :) love her. We learned so much from her. and can't waith to see her in a few weeks. We are going up to chaing Rai for p- day. :)
It soulds like you have a great fun of a time in Washington. But i hear you were really missed back home ;)
I can't wait to see pictures of my new niece. She is going to be so cute. i tell everyone that talks about babies that im getting another niece in X amount of days :) The grand kids you have now are super cute. you are a lucky gpa.
This weekend we will watch conference. I hope its in english :) just so i can really understand what the prophet and apostles are saying. I can't wait. i really love conference. Talking about the prophet to everyone and teaching the words of the prophet everyday really gets you wanting to hear what they have to say. The work has slowed down just a bit. but it will continue up again. We had a ZOne Conference yesterday. We got the Vision of what missionary work is going to be like here is a few years. Where the auxhilary learders and Bishop give the missionaries the referrals. The missionaries responibility is to HELP the branch , stake , ward with THEIR Missionary work. Its not the missionaries finding but the members are main source to missonary work and the missionaries are there as assistance. What i great plan. I know when members are involved with the finding, teaching and fellowshipping that is when people are converted. For life. The church will soar. Im happy to hear you are having success. I love this work. I still have those moments eveyday "i'm i missionary... in thailand" its still a waitd feeling bu ti wouldnt want to be any where else but here.
I Love you

I know when members are involved with the finding, teaching and fellowshipping that is when people are converted. For life. The church will soar. Im happy to hear you are having success. I love this work. I still have those moments eveyday "i'm i missionary... in thailand" its still a waitd feeling bu ti wouldnt want to be any where else but here.
I Love you

แม่ Thats mom in thai. That took me forever to find on the key board. but its worth it:) You mey not have kids at home that need you but you have one kid on the other side of the world that needs you:) always:) remember that. Sugar... thats hard most dishes here have sugar in them like oil and things being fried. but ill try to stay away from them. Sunday and saturday we get to watch conference from a dvd. I hope we get to watch it in english. bc i want to know what is being said. Although my english is getting better. ive realized that i am almost half way done with this adventure, i need to start talking more than i am now. and ive realized i do know thai i do i do. i just need to speak. yes its not all there but enough to make a conversation and to understand for the most part. my new companion is sister Lo. She acctually served in Korat right before me. i replaced her. so we know so many people and we are having fun. We got a nang kiaw, greenie, he is actually khon thai, a thai. then we got another farang. the 2 thais are companions and the 2 farangs are companions, which is awesome. but it means we all have to split from our comps to teach english. So im now teaching the basic class. well see how that goes tonight :) we went to the zoo today the 2 thais and us sisters. we wanted to play in the snow dome. but there were alot of students there that took up all the time. GRR!!! we really wanted the thais to expiriance snow. another time. Out weather is hot and cold every day. it switched between hours, no kidding. We are looking fo a new house. which is really hard here. we can't just google house in Chaing mia. we have to actually ride around looking for a house. we invite as we are doing that. but we need to move before november 1st. which doesn't give us alot of time. im happy to hear you are staying busy. keep up the high spirits. know i love you. I can't wait to talk to you on christmas. are you going to be in Washinton or Arizona?
I LOVE YOU

DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So its move time again and i'm sad to say that i will be getting a new companion:( sis. warapon has been called to train one of the greenies and even open a nwe kheed (area). She's freakingn out but it know she will do great:) also another crazy thing is that sis. josephson, my comp from the MTC is going to train. :) Im glad its not me:) im not ready for that. i want to be Phii though, the senior companion. That will increase my speaking bc i dont have any other choice. well see tomorrow. We leave tonight at 9 and arrive around 7-8 the next day. we are taking a bus this time, its actually faster. Hey today is the only day we didn't have rain:) It's been fun. The only thing i don't like about it raining. thai's don't go out into it. Which means if we have an appointment at the church they aren't coming. also there is no one out on the streets to go invinting. It really hinders the work. but it feels so good.
Man life is rough for you:) but you deserve it. You work hard and i thank you.
It sounds like you had a great time in Washington. Did gma and gpa go to church? What did you eat at the thai resturant? and how much was it? its crazy to think here i can get meals for a buck when in the states you pay an arm and a leg. I have eaten the best fish over here. They gut the fish, cover it in salt and then grill it. (plaa pow gluah) oh it's good. with some rice and somthom, sauce, aroy aroy!!!!
I love taching about families and temples bc it reminds me of what i have at home. you and mom, amanda and Nick, and hopefuly eric and shelly ;) what makes it hard is to tell people how good i have it when they are not happy with their families. I truly know that we are a family forever and we have the blessing of the temple. I really miss going.
The work is still going great. Oh can you belive i have hit 9 months! i can't i just got here.
I love you good luck fishing.

I haven't been doing a good job of updating this so I vow again to stay on top of it. I hope those of you reading this enjoy Bonnie's experiences with us. I have been editing her e-mails but I have decided to stop and let you see that as she gets more fluent in Thai the worse her spelling becomes and let you with us try to figure out what she says sometimes. Plus to let her see the effect Thai has had on her english writting. Beware she uses a lot of Thai words instead of english. Enjoy the puzzles with us. Thank for your support of her in this adventure. Cary Meyers
MOM!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the recipe. the biscuits went great and they were SO delieouse!!!!!!!!!!! Almost like home. not quite but they were close. The butter and flour here are different than at home. i don't know who but they are. they mix differently than at home. it might be the hot humid weather. the weather has been great. this past week we had a big storm come through. we had about 2/3 ful days of rain. it was great. The thai's are funny. When it rains they hate it, but once it clears up it gets hot again and they complain that its hot. i guess that is how we are at home as well. :) We had a double baptism Sunday :) It was great. The work is really progressing here. Although they are cutting our numbers. we are getting a bunch of new missionarries this next moves and then after that we aren't getting any new one for a good move. There is a need for missionaries that we are just not getting all over the world. So they are pileing up missionaries in S. America and Western America. Untill we start getting our missionary numbers up again. My knee injury from falling off my bike has healed completely just in time for a new injury:) The branch had a sports night consisting of 3-legged race, tug-a-war, frizbee, volleyball, and football (soccer) . my night ended at frizbee. I decided to show off my trick of catching the frizbee in my mouth. My tooth went through the back of my lip and the frizbee went through the front. Luckly they didn't meet int the middle. there is a nice gash, and alot of blood. Lets just say eating has been difficult and i havent been eating spice :( But it is healing up good. another week and ill be as good as new. I love you and glad i have you as my mother. Keep smiling. take car of dad. Look for missonary moments. Members are the best for referrals. I love in preach My Gosple it says when a member gives a referral and is involved in the teaching and fellowshipping, that referral is 600 times more likely to accept and stay active in the church. 600 Times thats huge!!!!!!!!!! ok i love you.

MOM!!!!!!!!! Goodmornig beautiful. You kow its cray to think i am on the other side of the world. when ever i talk about someones birthday i say ::happybirthday:: well tomorrow. b'c im 14 hours ahead of you. crazy! its like time travel. anyways today we rested and went toured some wads around the city. Weird. THe moment we entered the gates to the ground i felt completely different. and it wasn't a good feeling. The wads were beatuiful. and detail on them was so intracit. but its not the same as our own temple. im so glad we don't have our temples open for the public to come in and out of as they please. I thik it takes away the, sorry i can't think of the word in english but i can in thai. My language is getting so much better. Today sis. waraporn asked if during our lunch we could speak english to help her. It was fun. Today we helped eachother with preparing for english class. it was fun to hear the mistranslations when we speak. good times. English is taught in all schools. Most thais can read english really good. but speaking it is a no can do. but most would love to be able to speak it. Thats why our free english classes are such a big attraction. we average about 15 new students a week and have about 50 in the other 3 classes. its alot of fun. i really enjoy it. So eventhough im in Chaing Mai my bike still likes to give me problems. i prepared to leave the other morning to find my back tire completely flat. so we walked to the bike shop luckly it was just down the street. and go tit fixed. 20 baht. not bad. i do read the ensigns, thanks. we do get liahona sent to the house but s. waraporn gets the thai one and i get the engligh one. so its good to have my own. The elders are all shapes and sizes personalities are all different, but we are fun in our own ways. it good. The weather is still the same.i think in a few months it will really cool off. i hear it actually gets cold. i believe it. We have pioneers. because chaing mai has had missonaries for ever we have some of the 1st pioneers in Thailand. people have been members for 20+ years. and have sent sons out on missions. Its really cool. Everyone is really close. Its great. Next moves is oct 1. then nov 12. which is 6 weeks yes. My birthday wish is a letter from everyone. and i mean everyone. And if you send nuts put them in a zip lock bag. ants got into them last time. Well i need to email dad.

MOM!!!!! I RODE AN ELEPHANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you went wake boarding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Missionary work: that seems to be the big topic this week. Each day we try to vist a member or 2. We give them a little spiritual thought. Then something we have started doinging is plan of going inviting after the lesson and have them come along with us. Its great. they get to be apart of finding. andit gives them a chance to share their testimony about the gosple, pray, book of Mormon, or what ever topic we are inviting on. Be willing to help teach. i LOVE it when a member is there. because its not just these 2 young people telling you what they believe, doing what they have vollenteered to do. But a member their then it shows the investigators there is more non-vollenteers willing totake time formtheir lives to help them learn. Plus, with members thair when they investigator comes to church, they know someone there and don't feel so weird and alone. Members are the Key to missionary work.
Many people play the piano here. I do teach english read dads letter and it will explain more. Yes we do anwser the elders phonecalls. im glad too they check up on us. we do have the luncheons. Read dad letter also about my feelings onthe luncheons. The weather its cloudy in the mornigs. butthey burn off by the time we leave the house then by 4-5 they roll back in and drop some rain..Its beautiful. Im not sure when it gets colder but i hear it can get pretty cold here during the cold season. Next transfers are Oct 1. then one after that is Nov.12. soto get a package closer to my birthday you can send it for next transfers. which is good because i want a letter from everyone. and i mean EVERYONE:aunts uncles. gmas gpas cousins. bros sis friends. so you have about 5 weeks to get them all. thanks mom.
So a little about the past week. Ifell off my bike for the first time. it was rainng and i was trying to stop but didn't do it very gracefully. so i fell. i have a nice big raspberry on my knee. We were on our way to a members house for FHE with some investigators. so i show up needing medical help. good thing she knew english.
Well times up. We have a baptism sunday it went great!!!!
Keep up the spirits.

MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Morning beautiful. I would love to see the house its sounds like things are coming along just fine. To day we went to the Chaing Mai zoo. Thai's have a different way of seeing th e zoo. Everyone rides the train. No one really walks. but all is good. we went with Sis. Kay. and she reminds me of michelle. So i needed to have some patients with her. She wanted a picture of everything. but she is cute and i absolutly love her. The zoo was beautiful. We saw the aquairum. and the Giant panda. Th efather interacting in his exhibit. Mom and baby aren't ready for all the out sid attention. but we saw them on a tv monitor. It is so cute. So much fun. Next week is Kii Chang, meaning riding the Elephants. Im so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eric and Shelly are getting prettty seriouse aren't they? Good im happy for both of them.
I have to agree with you every body should go on a mission. YOu learn things here that you will never learn anywhere else. There is nothing that an replace or substitute for what a missionary learns in the feild. I know that my mission has changed me. for the better. i think differently, part of that is due to it being in another language:) i want different things in life. i have a better understanding of the gosple and what God wants me to do. My relationship with him. ANd who i am. Even for girls. This is wonderful time to grow. Plus sisters give an extra spark to the mission feild. ANd we can do things the elders can't do. i mean in teaching people. That is why i am so excited for Jenny, Tara, and erin for choosing to go serve. They will never regret it. No sacrifice is worth it to not go. Because we always receive more back than we gave. so there really is no sacrifice at all. Well i love you, Keep smiling. love, Sister Meyers

MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good morning. I hope its going to be a good day. Thank you for your support and love its what keeps me going when times get tough. YOu and dad asked me what is harder: this for the womens pull in the treck. At the time i didn't have an answer, now i do ... this is the hardest thing i have ever done. Bu ti am so glad a am here. and haveing the oppertunity to learn and grow. Thank you for giving me this time. My day starts out a 6:15 am when my alarm goes off. i continplate for awhile if i should just roll over, but knowing i need to get up or ill fall asleep again i roll out of bed and go into our extra room to kneel down and pray. i can't do it on my bed side. i fall sleep. Then i go exercise, with some stretching. i lay on my side and lift my leg for some reps. do upshups, and other arm workouts. some calf raises. straching some abs. thats susually it. them when riding my bike i have my gears pretty hard to give me a leg work out. Eating. there arn't as many khmons around here as in Korat. so my sweets have been cut down. which is good. i know how to make a meal with some pumkin and basil. i think that is the best thing i have eaten here. oh i did have a fruit salad today that was great. Does gma like ped, spicy, food? tell her i love her. and gpa also. they are in my thoughts and prayers. Ok i have 2 dishes already. the thais know how to take roman noodle to a whole new level. also we will have to try a BBQ thai style. ill bring one home. Ok after working out i go cook breakfast. Oatmeal with some nuts in it or fruit if i have any. then its time for a shower. get ready and then personal, companion, and language study. by 11:30- 12:00 we are out the door. eat lunch and then we are full riding to different appointments throught out the city. our area is SO much smaller than it was in Korat. ANd im actually getting the idea of how the city is layed out. I can get to the church from our house and aback again. and to other places. it makes me happy. Language is what makeing this so hard. I can speak it i know i can, but once i have to teach everything comes out in a gummble. it frusterating. Good thing i have a companion who can give additional information. Wait Tara is going on a mission? Jenny got hers? I know she told you not to tell me where. how long ago did she send a letter to me. we lost our mail last week. i hope a letter from her was n ot in it. So where is she going? So where did carlie move to? how is school going for her and Keith and Eric? well i love you. you are in my heart and mind whenever i see a family and hear about mothers.

September 23, 2009 DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how people would survive if they didn't have high spirits. I can tell you that the missionaries that go home early its because they think way to much about home and not about the call they have been given. THIS IS HARD!!! I will be the first one to tell you that. Its not easy. even on pday, yes we get a chance and rest and have some unwork related fun, but you still are a representative of the church. We know this is not a vacation. But i know the time that it is easiest is when im acctually working. When you are out there inviting or teaching lesson, you don't have time to think about you. its all about the people around you. If i didn't have high spirits i would be crying everyday. THIS IS FUN it truly is. Because i have this black badge on it gives extra power. One of the easiest counter attacks to thinking youo can't do something is knowing im a missonary and bc so i can go up and talk to these people and not be awkward or rude. Its great.
Im so excited for your recent success with investigators. I love seeing the little miracles that God gives us when it comes to missonary work. They truly do happen and im greatful to have the opportunity to see them everyday. I know they happen to everyone. We all just need to try harder and open ourselves to reconize the miracles, those tender mercies, that God gives us. Try to look for them. I promise they are there.
so on wed. night after englis class we have 2 investigators schedules. Guess what that means??? if you said i get to teach with a member, you are right. the lesson went great. I was nervouse but as the investigator was sayign the prayer i was saying my own pray to calm my soul and nerves and help me speak. Instantly i felt at peace. i was able to speak what i wanted and teach the lesson :) Thai is coming awesomely. Sis. Waraporn and i switch day on helping with pornunciation and reading. Im currently working on my tones. i have been told they are terrible :) which i agree. So readin has slowed down and really focused on the way i say things. ANd it has greatlly helped. Ive realized speaking this is like dancing: if i think to much about the way you dance you can't do it. you will mess up. But if you just let it go and go with the flow of it you can do it. I just need to let it go and go with the flow. Im a farang im allowed to make mistakes. and when im cmpletely wrong i have a thai companion to help correct. I know satan works hard on my confdence to speak thai. But it is getting to where i don't care what others think about my thai. and long as they understand the message. Oh in the package that is being sent can you put in a family tree. Thanks. Well time is up. I love you. And just to let you know, the way i am is because of you and mom. thanks for teaching me what is important in this life.

August e-mail Sorry dad the computer i am on is not reading my camara.:( so i can't down load my pictures . and the space key is really hard to push so if i don't have some spaces in between words that is why.
well good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this week was great!!!!!!!!!!! we went to the zoo last wed. and i dodged a kiss from a drunk man.it was pretty funny. oh can you add into your prayers my protection from the dogs. i was chased and almost biten by one. it only got my shoe. but if it bit mei would haveto go through the rabie series. and you know how much i love shots:) that would be great. well on to the other stuff that madethis week spectacular. yesterday we wnt inviting and we meet that greatest women. sheisalready christian and her whole family is to. and she wants to learn more. then sunday: befor sacrament meeting startedilooked around to see what investigators came and the only one there was the one sitting nextto me :/ i wasn't to happy aboutthat. well after sacrament finished. 3 members came up to us and introduces us to their friends that where interestedin learning. THREE members did this. we have been focusing in getting referrals from members. and been asking. but these three members we haven't even talked to yet. WOW! this is great. i love see how God helps us. last week it seemed like all our investigoators dropped off the facwe of the earth. so as much as we don't like doing it. we went inviting for a godd few hours every day. we didin't get anything off of that. well someithing for the elders and for another area. but thats it. we wanted to show God we will keep working even when there is no work inplane sight. well i think he noticed and he did help. :) it doesn't stop there. yesterday: we had a appoint ment with our most recent convert, nok, she is great. she is working on becoming a missionary. YAY!!!!!!!!!!! well, oil, a current investigator. who is waiting for an interview, saw use at the church and stopped by.and stayed for the lesson. we where reviewing the Plan of slavation. Acctually we didn't teach rerallly at all. Nok drew the plan on the board and taught Oil about it. We added some thinking questions and clearification when needed. but thats it. At one point we had Nok studying Alma 7:11-12 about the Atonement, and Oil was praying to thank God for answering her Prayer earlier to give comfor to her wisdomtheeth. that are growing in. Sis.brad and i just sat there, sitting on the classroom in the church Thai style: on the floor. The spirit was so strong. It was a great feeling. the only thing that could have made that night any better. would be our favorite naambaan (smoothie) place was open. it wasn't. but if anything had to go wrong. i would give up the naamban over the spirit we felt that night.
What i great week. have i said that already, well its worth saying again. life is really great. we have a meeting in khon Kean yesterday. and i realized that 20 19-22 yearolds were trusted to have a meeting together. and the great thing is. we had a meeting. We have a 3 hour conversation on ways to better improve our study time God has given us each morning. wow! What trust. What an oppertunity.
Well Dad i love you . i hope everythingis going well at home.

Good morning Dad!!!:) I was on the computer and saw that I didn'tget a letter from you and I was sad:( but then a few minutes latter a new email came into my box and it was from you:( yay happy day. Ok I'll send you some pictures next week I'm thinking of seeing if I can upload them to costco and have you pick them up on a DVD. I have so many of them. but we'll see. if anything I'll send you some by email. So it sounds like everything is going just great over on your side of the world. Things here are going great. Miracles are happening everyday some days they are harder to see but others are as plain to see as men a crowd of thai people. :) oh I"m funny. It seems like God has his miracles happening over where you are as well. I'm happy about your job:). Here I knew he would pull through. He hasn't let us down yet. and don't think he will anytime soon. Our most recent convert is amazing. She is from korat so she knows the place backword and forward and upside down. so we had her come help us find a hose from LA. She was great. and as we where riding around she said in a year she wants to be a missionary. :) YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! she will do great. She didn't give up trying to find this peorson she asked 3 time for a phone number. I would have give up at the 1st try. We found the house but the member didn't live there anymore. It was great. then we have 2 more lined up for baptism. One is in Chang Mai on business so the sisters up there are teaching her for us. :) then the other one is all done she just needs a interview to clear up some "things" but those two are friends so they are going to get baptized on the same say. The sad thing is I will most likely in a new area by that time :( but some people sow and others reap. For them I am a sower. I'll reap somewhere else. Oh i just heard something great from Pres. Smith who is from AZ. they lives somewhere close to Amanda and Nick. but he said that the Mesa mission baptised about 1000 people last year. Wow I never knew there was that many baptism. The work here is great, although we are being cut down on missionaries. by Jan we should hve about 110 missionaries instead of our current 140. :( We are trying to build up the places we have already. Everything here is great. I can't believe its been 6 months since I have left, but who is counting. This next year is going by so fast . Too fast in fact.
Well I need to write some others I love you
SISTER MEYERS.

This is her first companion, A native thai. Unfortunately She wanted to speak only english with Bonnie to perfect her skills and she was very trunky. This was her last area and very sad to say had checked out of the mission life, plus didn't want to be a trainer. Which is funny because mission President Dodge told Bonnie he was giving her the best sister trainer in the field. But Bonnie weathered the 6 weeks and now has a new companion Sister Bradford from Sandy, Utah and they work great together and Bonnie stepped up to being the lead in that area, since Sister Bradfield had never been there before. Bonnie and Sister Bradfield are having great success.

MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its good to hear from you :) i hope everything is going fantastic for you. It sounds like it except for a few things/people but we need those bad things to help us know how good the goods things are. keep a smile on and things will get better.
Disneyland... did you ride rollercoaster??????? i would be so proud of you if you did. i hope it was fun. its great to see shelly there with you guys:) she really fits in with the family :)
so swine flu is the big talk of the country. People are wearing masks to protect them selves. the only deaths are the babies and the really old people. and those that have weak immune systems, so i'm not to worried about it. I still wash my hands many times a day and before I eat. and I keep my hands away from my mouth. One of our investigators bought us some face masks. She is so cute:) oh and she got baptized this past sunday. :) it was great. so the schools have been out for the past week and a half because of the swine flu. crazy. but thats the thailand that i love.
So I really have the city down. I get almost anywhere. Then with the language it is reaaly coming wonderful. i'm so proud of the progress I've made, and I can't wait to continue and learn and get to the point to be able to speak fluently. but it will take some more time and effort and that I am ready to give.
Tell everyone that I say hi and I send my love to them.
Excercise is ok. I've stopped gaining weight. so now we just need to start loosing. but its all good.
Ok to let you know it takes about a 2 weeks for a package to get here so give it that amount of time and it will all be good.
I love you

Things to send: retainer, nuts, i pod cord. and good church CDs. Ineed new music i know all mine already. Pictures would be nice. snicker doodles :) Things are going great here. The weather is starting to be beautiful. It's hot about 12 noon, but then by 4-5 its starts to rain and it cools down greatly. Then to day in the jungle the weather and air was so clean and beautiful. I love it here. I can't tell you the depth because there are no words to describe it. Well i love you and thank you for all you do for me. I'll stay away from coconut and watch what I eat. Thanks for the suggestions. I love you with all my heart.

hey where is everyone? Hope everything is going ok at home? How was NM? Why did you go over there? oh you might me in Washington state, right? Tell gma and gpa I say hi and I love them. Everything here i going great, wonderful and awesome!!!!!! My new companion is s. Bradfield. She has been in the field for 5/6 months now. it's awesome we both don't feel prepaered enough to talk thai or navigate around Korat. so we each do our part. i acctually feel like i'm contibuting to the work. our days have be full of adventure. starting with locking our keys in the house but also locking us in side the gate. we where stuck:) then the same day we forgot our cell phone and s. bradfields planner at the church over night. :) its been fun. i know the city better than i thought. thanks mom for teaching me to pay attention to my surroundings. we are trying to find all the Less Activites in the branch. we've got some great members that are helping us. our days feel like a treasure hunt. the thai people are so nice. twice yesterday the khonthai's went out of their way to help us. the map is my best friend, we've had to tape it up already. and it needs some more.:) i love s. bradefield. so much . she came from a khonthai companionship as well so we have alot in common with past comps. oh but i heard everyone was worried about me being companions with s. wanritdee. i talked to some of s. wanritdee's old comps and they had the same propblems i did with her. which makes me feel better. they all say i handled the situation great. i was worried that i was the only one that had a hard time getting along with her. but that is done and over with. i learned what i had to learn. now i am with a comp that has the same mind set as me. we are here to do the lords work, we can't do it with out him and we are on the biggest adventure of our lives. WE ARE IN THAILAND!!!!!!!!!! We can see Gods hand in our lives daily. one he is guiding me through this big city, which had 200,000 people in it. and 2 he has helpped our thai get better. s. bradfield has been helping me so much. i love speaking thai. so today we went to the zoo:) i'm excited. we rented a tandem bike. it took us a while to get use to driving together. some wabbly starts, driving off the sidewalk. and falling in to a bush. yes i fell into a bush twice. and the same bush. HAHA:) the 1st time i just stepped into it to prevent us from falling, but then i lost my balance and was completly engulfed into the thing. my arm had a bunch of scratchs but nothing is broken. it gave us a good laugh and we still laugh abou it:) the zoo was great. we saw the hippos today and fed them. wow they are BIG. i have some great pictures of them opening their mouths. we also got the tiger to get and move around. it was rubbing up against the fence. it was cute. i wish it got a bigger cage:/ So before the next moves we will be getting a new mission president:( \ :) president Dodge and his wife have been amazing and im really going to miss them, but ive heard that Pres. Smith and s. smith are great. i had some things that i wanted to write you about but they are in my planner and my planner is at home. oops. did you try the condenced milk and the indian frybread? isn't it wonderful. you don't need the sugar or the butter on them , just dip the bread in condenced milk. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!i hope all is well in AZ. have fun in what ever you do. when do we find out what amanda is having? i say it's a boy. what is the families senior vacation for carlie and kieth? have you figured that out yet? what new at home?i love you and always will. BIG LOVE sister Meyers

MOM :) good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the money in the account. i'll try not to usr that card to often. oh so i ws thinking about my credit card. and where i can use it since every one only takes cash, but i thought i would buy my grocerisies once a month with it just to keep it going. so keep looking for my statment every month. thanks.
i have a scripture i want some help with. i was reading D&C 138 the other day. go get your scriptures and read verse 56. what do you think about this verse? who are they? do you think it's us who are members of the church? if so and what made us so special in the pre mortal life to get the opportunity to learn before we got to earth? or did everyone get these lessons? HELP!! ask dad, or bring it up with the family one night. or if you can tie it into your lesson and see what your gospel doctorine class thinks.
WOW keith and Carlie are graduating today tell the congrats for me and i wish them luck. and i love them.
Oh eating. I'm trying but my comp is a food junky, but she doesn't want to eat alone so eat it with her or she bullies it for me. but i have 1 more week with her. i think im going to buy a jump rope and start doing that. what do you think? its hard to eat in moderation. they give you so much food here in each portion. and you have to eat all of it or it's rude. i might just start getting it togo and then saving the rest for latter. i'll stay focused on what i eat i don't want to get fat either. oh how is your exersice going? how much weight have you list so far? keep it up.
oh so cool exsiriance yesterday. we went inviting at the bus station. we sat on a bench and started talking to people. i struck up a convo with the women sitting next to me. ( farongs (white people) that live here don't know thai, so when a farong does know thai , even when it's choppy, like mine, they are so supried. so i told them i taught about Jesus and english. they where interested so i got their number, i even wrote down their phone number my self. it was awesome. i understood what they asked me and i was able to respond correctly. I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!!!!!! I love you

Sister Meyers refered to the Thai New years celebration she participated in. Here is some information on it. Songkran (สงกรานต์) is the traditional Thai New Year water festival which starts on April 13 every year.
In ancient times, it was celebrated as a moveable feast, The festival lasts for 4 days. Maha Songkran Day is the first day of the celebrations which marks the end of the old year. April 14, Wan Nao is the day between the ending of the old year and the beginning of the new year when foods are prepared for the temples. The third day of Songkran, April 15, is Wan Thaloeng Sok - the day on which the New Year begins and on the last day, Wan Parg-bpee, the ancestors and elders are honored.
In Thailand, small birds may also be released from cages as part of the festivities. While in India the throwing of colored water marks Holi, the Thai Songkran Festival involves throwing clear water - and lots of it! - although many add colored powders and scents to the water in Thai New Year celebrations in playful "water wars."
The tradition traces back to the pre-Buddist rituals of spring festivals where the throwing of water was meant as a symbol of luck to bring good rain for the crops. It was later converted to the religious custom of cleansing the statues of Buddha once a year. In many places there are parades with the statues of Buddha and as the parades pass, crowds shower the Buddha with water. Songkran (สงกรานต์) is the traditional Thai New Year water festival which starts on April 13 every year.
The word Songkran comes from the Pali language of the Therevada Buddhist scriptures (Sankhara) and the Sanskrit word (Sankranti) for movement or change.
In ancient times, it was celebrated as a moveable feast, and set to occur as the sun moved into the Aries portion of the zodiac. In modern times the date has been fixed as April 13.
Although the Thai people officially changed the New Year to January 1 in 1940 to coincide with the Western business world, the traditional Songkran Festival is still celebrated as a national holiday in Thailand.

The Songkran Festival shares some similarities with the Holi festival in India celebrated around the same time. One custom that Songkran shares with Holi is the releasing of small fish back into the rivers and steams. In Thailand, small birds may also be released from cages as part of the festivities. I made it to Thailand!
April 22, 2009
HI from thailand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea where to start... Yes i have seen an elephant!!!! he was being wlked down the street:) but thats all i have seen :( the trip over was great and exciting. when we go tto LAX we realized that we had a full day layover there. and that the air port shuts down every night so we would be kicked out:) luckly we had great elders with us and we got swithe to a plane that only had a 3 hour layover in Thiapei. You know a 16 hour plane ride isn't that bad when you sleep 10 hours of it:) we were all to gether and within the 1st hour i was asleep i even told one of my elders to shut up when he woke me and asked me if i wanted some food they where serving on the plane. i don;t remember that bu that's what everyone says. opps
OK mom dad if money allows in 15 months i would really love for you to see this place. The traffic here is CRAZY. Yeah i do ride my bike. Which was 13500 bhat which is about $350. The currency rate is abour 35 bhat to $1. It is really cheap over here. i eat meals for $1-3 dollars that would be $8-9 in the US. OH YUMM. The food here is amazing as well. today though i had pizza :) which is WAY better than the stuff in america. Oh so i guess you want to know where i am. I am in Khorat, Which is about in the middle of the eastern part of Thailand. Ok back to traffic... road lines here are more of a suggestion. people follow them but when they really have noneed for them they don't follw them. Bikes have the outter most lane but when that i s blocked we go into the road. we don't ride on the sidewalks bc they are filled with venders. Oh mom i got you beat on fruit i go 2 mangos for about 9 bhat. figure that out!! Oh and the fruit here is SO GOOD SO GOOD SO GOOD ( that's for you jenny) But as crazy as the traffic is there are hardly any accidents. people here don't think they own the road or entitled to go first. Uncle tommy: you w\should see how thwy fillin pot holes here. i think you should pick up their technique. They pour cool asvhalt ( i don't know how to spell it:( )in the hole and have the car compack it as they drive over it. hey it will save you money on labor:) And there are alot of pot hole. They don't realy do any thing to the road before they pour it. I think they just remove all the big rocks.
they are very patient people. even when they hear me speak. i don't think i have offended anyone yet. but today i did say thank you to someone instead of hello:) but thats about it so far but don't woory more will come. so my companion s. wanritdee she is thay and i am killing here (ask eric \ nick what that means) so i will be leading the area next moves. no pressure. So my first sunday was great. I am the ONLY one who knows who to play the piano... yes you guessesd right i plyed the piano for sacrament meeting and for the baptism latter that day. Oh can i tell you it was good. also due to language i got a few # wrong so i started to play another song and every one looked at me weird. this happened twice. I will be suprised if they ask me to do it next week. OK Keith my suggestion is for you to learn who to play the hymns on the piano bc you never know where you are going ( i hope you come to Thailand) and no one knows how to play the piano. LEARN form my expirence. OK the baptism it was deffinatly one that everyone is going to remember. The baptism was goin to take place after church after a luch. Well we where just about to eat when one of the elders came up to us and said they forgot to fill up the faunt. OPPS the faunt takes 3-4 hours to fill up. So what did we do ... we drug a hose thrugh the window. handed everyonr a bucket, pan, pitch, anything we could use went into the bathrooms ( using the sinks and badetts ) and started filling it up by hand. Even our other investigators helped . It was quite the expeiance. I recomend it for a bonding moment for the ward and investigators. Oh amanda Carlie mom we need to come on a shopping spree here. Shoes and clothes are EVERYWHERE. The mall looks like a gaint department store. well time is almost up. I love you all and thank you for your prayers . Remeber everone is a missionary. Oh teaching in thay i bear my testimony ALOT bc thats pretty much all i can do. I explane some things but not to much i just sit there. i don't even look pretty i just sit there. Theweater is deffinatly HOT AND HUMID!!!!!!!!!!!! i am just sweaty all the time. i even take cold showers now. Oh carlie when i come home ry not to be jealouse of my tan lines. they are good. look up the thai new year and you can see for you self how my first day was. it should have to do something with water.
I LOVE YOU ALL

just a couple excerpts from Bonnie's letters:
January 28th (the day she entered the MTC)
"IT'S SO COLD!! I'm so glad I'm going someplace warm. I don't think I could make it in the snow. We were made an amazing promise today. That is we work hars, we will be able to teach on our language in 5 months. Oh, Thai is one of the hardest languages to learn and THE HARDEST to write. I am excited to work hard & see the promise fulfilled. The campus is HUGE!! Sister Josephson and I are still completely confused."
February 3rd
"My life here at the MTC is wonderful!! All it feels like I'm doind is eating and studying :) I walked out of class the other day to go to a meeting & started to head to the cafeteria :) Wow, it's already a habit after a few days !! Today is my prep day, but it it full of essentials...right now I am writing this letter as I sit in a rolling laundry basket waiting for my laundry to finish :) The spirit is so stron here, even in the laundry room just seeing how many young men and women chose to take time from their lives to serve the Lord. I am happy/sad to say I have not been home sick, for I know this will be a short time and I'll be with you all soon. Being on a mission really brought me to know how our Heavenly Father must feel like when we leave. The best time of day is when the mail arrives- it feels to good when you get a letter. It makes me want to pray more to my Heavenly Father because I know what it feels like to get word from someone you love. I love you all. Have faith, study, pray, serve, and all will work out for your good and we will see miracles."
